Its isnad is sahih, but I have not found anywhere else the claim that the Messenger of Allah invoked his parents for Zubayr's sake on the day of Uhud. What is well known is the hadith that follows at 1409, that he did this on the day of the Trench, and that he invoked his parents for Saad bin Abu Waqqas on the day of Uhud, as has already appeared several times in the hadith of Ali, the last instance being at 1147 and 1356, that he never heard the Messenger of Allah combine mention of his parents for anyone except Saad, saying to him on the day of Uhud, "Shoot, may my father and mother be sacrificed for you." This is also confirmed by what will come later in Saad's own hadith at 1495, "The Messenger of Allah combined mention of his parents for my sake on the day of Uhud."Hafiz, in Fath al-Bari 7:66, tried to reconcile the Messenger of Allah's invoking his parents for Zubayr's sake on the day of the Trench with Ali's statement that he did this only for Saad, by suggesting either that Ali was simply unaware of that instance, or that he meant this specifically with regard to the day of Uhud. But this is a forced explanation, for Ali's statement is explicit that he never heard him invoke his parents except for Saad. This does not, however, rule out the possibility that it also happened for Zubayr, both on the day of Uhud and on the day of the Trench.
