Abu Talha was shooting arrows in front of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the day of Uhud, while the Prophet ﷺ stood behind him, using him as a shield. Abu Talha was a skilled archer, and whenever he shot, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would raise himself up to see where his arrow landed. Abu Talha would then raise his chest and say, "Like this, may my father and mother be sacrificed for you, Messenger of Allah. Let no arrow strike you. My chest before yours."Abu Talha would push himself forward in front of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and say, "I am strong, Messenger of Allah, so send me on your errands and command me with whatever you wish."
