Anas bin Malik reported,

Anas bin Nadr was absent from the fighting at Badr, and he said, "I missed the first battle the Prophet ﷺ took part in. If I ever see fighting again, Allah will surely see what I do."Then came the day of Uhud, and the Prophet's ﷺ companions were routed. Anas came forward and saw Saad bin Muaz retreating, so he called out, "Abu Amr, where to, where to? Stand your ground! By Him in whose hand my soul rests, I can smell the fragrance of Paradise close by Uhud."Then he charged in and fought until he was killed.Saad bin Muaz later said, "By Him in whose hand my soul rests, I could not do what he did."His sister said, "I could only recognize my brother by his fingertips. There were more than eighty wounds in his body, blows from swords, arrow shots, and thrusts from spears."So Allah revealed concerning him, "men who were true to the covenant they made with Allah" up to His words, "and they have not changed in the least" [Ahzab 33:23].

أن أنس بن النضر تغيب عن قتال بدر فقال تغيبت عن أول مشهد شهده النبي ﷺ لئن رأيت قتالا ليرين الله ما أصنع فلما كان يوم أحد انهزم أصحاب النبي ﷺ أقبل أنس فرأى سعد بن معاذ منهزما فقال يا أبا عمرو أين أين قم فوالذي نفسي بيده إني لأجد ريح الجنة دون أحد فحمل حتى قتل فقال سعد بن معاذ فوالذي نفسي بيده ما استطعت ما استطاع فقالت أخته فما عرفت أخي إلا ببنانه ولقد كانت فيه بضع وثمانون ضربة من بين ضربة بسيف ورمية بسهم وطعنة برمح فأنزل الله عز وجل فيه {رجال صدقوا ما عاهدوا الله عليه} إلى قوله {وما بدلوا تبديلا}
