Adba, the Prophet's camel, had never been outbeaten in a race. Then a Bedouin Arabi came on his young camel and raced her, and the Arabi's camel outran her. This seemed to weigh heavily on the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "It is a right binding upon Allah that He raises nothing of this world without bringing it low again."
حدثنا عفان حدثنا حماد قال أخبرنا ثابت
أن العضباء كانت لا تسبق فجاء أعرابي على قعود له فسابقها فسبقها الأعرابي فكأن ذلك اشتد على أصحاب رسول الله ﷺ فقال رسول الله ﷺ إن حقا على الله عز وجل أن لا يرفع شيئا من هذه الدنيا إلا وضعه
Its chain of transmission is sahih. It is found in Bukhari 8/131, in the book of Riqaq, chapter of Humility, and in Abu Dawud 5/152, no. 4803, in the book of Manners, chapter on the dislike of ostentation, and in Nasai 6/227, no. 3588, in the book of Horses, chapter on Sunnahs, and in Bayhaqi 10/17, 250.
