The Messenger of Allah ﷺ continued fasting through the night without breaking it during Ramadan, so some of his companions did the same. When the Prophet ﷺ was told of this, he said, "If the month were extended for me, I would continue fasting in such a way that those who go to extremes would abandon their extremism. I am not like you. My Lord feeds me and gives me drink."
حدثنا عفان حدثنا حماد بن سلمة قال أخبرنا ثابت
أن رسول الله ﷺ واصل في رمضان فواصل ناس من أصحابه فأخبر النبي ﷺ بذلك فقال النبي ﷺ لو مد لي الشهر لواصلت وصالا يدع المتعمقون تعمقهم إني أظل يطعمني ربي ويسقيني
