Anas bin Malik reported,

I was riding behind Abu Talha on the day of Khaybar, with my foot touching the foot of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. We came upon them at sunrise, when they had already brought out their livestock and gone forth with their axes, baskets, and ropes. They cried out, "Muhammad and his army!" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Allah is the greatest! Khaybar is destroyed! When we descend upon the courtyard of a people, 'evil is the morning of those who were warned' [Saffat 37:177]."Allah defeated them. A beautiful young woman fell to the share of Dihya, but the Messenger of Allah ﷺ purchased her in exchange for seven captives, then handed her over to Umm Sulaym to prepare and adorn her. She was Safiyyah bint Huyayy.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ held her wedding feast with dates, dried curd, and clarified butter. Pits were dug in the ground, leather mats were brought and placed in them, then the dried curd, dates, and butter were brought, and the people ate their fill.The people said, "We do not know whether he has married her or taken her as a concubine." They said, "If he veils her, she is his wife. If he does not veil her, she is a concubine." When he was about to ride, he veiled her, and she sat on the back of the camel, so they knew he had married her.When we drew near Madinah, he urged his mount on and we did the same. The she-camel Adba stumbled, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was thrown off, and she was thrown off with him. He stood up and screened her from view. The women had looked out, and they said, "May Allah cast away the Jewess!"I asked, "Abu Hamza, did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ truly fall?"He answered, "Yes, by Allah, he did fall."I also witnessed the wedding feast of Zaynab bint Jahsh. He served the people their fill of bread and meat. He used to send me to invite the people. When he had finished, he stood up and I followed him. Two men remained behind, absorbed in their conversation, and did not leave. He began passing by his wives, greeting each one, "Peace be upon you, people of the household. How have you risen this morning?"They would reply, "Well, Messenger of Allah. How did you find your bride?"He would answer, "Well."When he returned and I went back with him, upon reaching the door, there were the two men still absorbed in their conversation. When they saw that he had returned, they got up and left. By Allah, I do not know whether I informed him or whether revelation came down to him that they had departed. He turned back and I went with him. When he placed his foot on the threshold of the door, he let the curtain fall between me and him, and Allah revealed the verse of the veil, "Do not enter the houses of the Prophet unless permission is given to you for a meal, without awaiting its readiness" [Ahzab 33:53], until the end of the passage.

عن أنس بن مالك قال

كنت رديف أبي طلحة يوم خيبر وقدمي تمس قدم رسول الله ﷺ قال فأتيناهم حين بزغت الشمس وقد أخرجوا مواشيهم وخرجوا بفؤوسهم ومكاتلهم ومرونهم فقالوا محمد والخميس فقال رسول الله ﷺ الله أكبر خربت خيبر إنا إذا نزلنا بساحة قوم {فساء صباح المنذرين} قال فهزمهم الله عز وجل قال ووقعت في سهم دحية جارية جميلة فاشتراها رسول الله ﷺ بسبعة أرؤس ثم دفعها إلى أم سليم تصلحها وتهيئها وهي صفية ابنة حيي قال فجعل رسول الله ﷺ وليمتها التمر والأقط والسمن قال فحصت الأرض أفاحيص قال وجيء بالأنطاع فوضعت فيها ثم جيء بالأقط والتمر والسمن فشبع الناس قال وقال الناس ما ندري أتزوجها أم اتخذها أم ولد فقالوا إن يحجبها فهي امرأته وإن لم يحجبها فهي أم ولد فلما أراد أن يركب حجبها حتى قعدت على عجز البعير فعرفوا أنه قد تزوجها فلما دنوا من المدينة دفع ودفعنا قال فعثرت الناقة العضباء قال فندر رسول الله ﷺ وندرت قال فقام فسترها قال وقد أشرفت النساء فقلن أبعد الله اليهودية فقلت يا أبا حمزة أوقع رسول الله ﷺ قال إي والله لقد وقع وشهدت وليمة زينب بنت جحش فأشبع الناس خبزا ولحما وكان يبعثني فأدعو الناس فلما فرغ قام وتبعته وتخلف رجلان استأنس بهما الحديث لم يخرجا فجعل يمر بنسائه ويسلم على كل واحدة سلام عليكم يا أهل البيت كيف أصبحتم فيقولون بخير يا رسول الله كيف وجدت أهلك فيقول بخير فلما رجع ورجعت معه فلما بلغ الباب إذا هو بالرجلين قد استأنس بهما الحديث فلما رأياه قد رجع قاما فخرجا قال فوالله ما أدري أنا أخبرته أو نزل عليه الوحي بأنهما قد خرجا فرجع ورجعت معه فلما وضع رجله في أسكفة الباب أرخى الحجاب بيني وبينه وأنزل الله الحجاب هذه الآيات {لا تدخلوا بيوت النبي إلا أن يؤذن لكم إلى طعام غير ناظرين إناه} حتى فرغ منها
