The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave Abu Sufyan, Uyayna, Aqra, and Suhayl bin Amr, along with others, gifts on the day of Hunayn.The Ansar said, "Messenger of Allah, our swords are still dripping with their blood, yet they are walking off with the spoils."This reached the Prophet ﷺ, so he gathered them in a tent of his until it was filled to capacity.He asked, "Is there anyone among you who is not from you?"They replied, "No, except for the son of our sister."He said, "The sister's son of a people is one of them." Then he said, "Did you say such and such?"They said, "Yes."He said, "You are the inner garment and the people are the outer garment. Are you not pleased that the people go off with the sheep and camels while you go back to your homes with the Messenger of Allah?"They said, "Of course."He said, "The Ansar are my closest confidants. If the people were to take one valley and the Ansar another path, I would take the path of the Ansar. Were it not for the Hijrah, I would be a man of the Ansar."Hammad said that he gave a hundred camels, naming each one of these men.
حدثنا عفان حدثنا حماد بن سلمة قال أخبرنا ثابت
أن رسول الله ﷺ أعطى أبا سفيان وعيينة والأقرع وسهيل بن عمرو في الآخرين يوم حنين فقالت الأنصار يا رسول الله سيوفنا تقطر من دمائهم وهم يذهبون بالمغنم فبلغ ذلك النبي ﷺ فجمعهم في قبة له حتى فاضت فقال أفيكم أحد من غيركم قالوا لا إلا ابن أختنا قال ابن أخت القوم منهم ثم قال أقلتم كذا وكذا قالوا نعم قال أنتم الشعار والناس الدثار أما ترضون أن يذهب الناس بالشاة والبعير وتذهبون برسول الله إلى دياركم قالوا بلى قال الأنصار كرشي وعيبتي لو سلك الناس واديا وسلكت الأنصار شعبا لسلكت شعبهم ولولا الهجرة لكنت امرأ من الأنصار وقال حماد أعطى مائة من الإبل يسمي كل واحد من هؤلاء
