Anas bin Malik reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ never went out on the day of Eid al-Fitr until he had eaten some dates. Anas would eat three dates before going out, and if he wished to have more, he would eat five, and if he wished to have still more, he would eat an odd number.

حدثنا علي بن عاصم أخبرنا عبد الله بن أبي بكر بن أنس قال سمعت

أنس بن مالك يقول

ما خرج رسول الله ﷺ في يوم فطر قط حتى يأكل تمرات قال وكان أنس يأكل قبل أن يخرج ثلاثا فإذا أراد أن يزداد أكل خمسا فإذا أراد أن يزداد أكل وترا
