Anas bin Malik reported,

Anas reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent his maternal uncle Haram, the brother of Umm Sulaym, with seventy men. They were killed on the day of Bir Maunah. The leader of the polytheists that day was Amir bin Tufayl.Amir had previously come to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Choose one of three options from me. The people of the plains shall be yours and the people of the tents shall be mine, or I shall be your successor after you, or I shall raid you with Ghatafan, a thousand bay horses and a thousand mares."He was then struck with plague in the house of a woman from such-and-such tribe, and he said, "A swelling like a camel's swelling, in the house of a woman from such-and-such tribe! Bring me my horse." It was brought to him, and he mounted it and died on its back.Haram, the brother of Umm Sulaym, set out with two companions, a man from Banu Umaya and a lame man. He said to them, "Stay close to me until I approach them. If they grant me safety, well and good. Otherwise, you will be nearby. If they kill me, you can inform your companions."Haram came to them and said, "Will you grant me safety so I may convey to you the message of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?"They said, "Yes."He began speaking to them, but they signaled to one of their men behind him, who stabbed him, driving the spear right through him.Haram exclaimed, "Allahu Akbar! I have triumphed, by the Lord of the Kaabah!"Then they killed all the rest except the lame man, who was on top of a mountain.Anas said, "Allah revealed to us a verse which we used to recite until it was abrogated, 'Convey to our people that we have met our Lord, and He is pleased with us and has pleased us.'"The Prophet ﷺ then invoked curses against them for forty mornings, against Ril, Zakwan, Banu Lihyan, and Usaya, those who disobeyed Allah and His Messenger.

عن أنس

أن رسول الله ﷺ لما بعث حراما خاله أخا أم سليم في سبعين رجلا فقتلوا يوم بئر معونة وكان رئيس المشركين يومئذ عامر بن الطفيل وكان هو أتى النبي ﷺ فقال اختر مني ثلاث خصال يكون لك أهل السهل ويكون لي أهل الوبر أو أكون خليفة من بعدك أو أغزوك بغطفان ألف أشقر وألف شقراء قال فطعن في بيت امرأة من بني فلان فقال غدة كغدة البعير في بيت امرأة من بني فلان ائتوني بفرسي فأتي به فركبه فمات وهو على ظهره فانطلق حرام أخو أم سليم ورجلان معه رجل من بني أمية ورجل أعرج فقال لهم كونوا قريبا مني حتى آتيهم فإن آمنوني وإلا كنتم قريبا فإن قتلوني أعلمتم أصحابكم قال فأتاهم حرام فقال أتؤمنوني أبلغكم رسالة رسول الله ﷺ إليكم قالوا نعم فجعل يحدثهم وأومئوا إلى رجل منهم من خلفه فطعنه حتى أنفذه بالرمح قال الله أكبر فزت ورب الكعبة قال ثم قتلوهم كلهم غير الأعرج كان في رأس جبل قال أنس فأنزل علينا وكان مما يقرأ فنسخ أن بلغوا قومنا أنا لقينا ربنا فرضي عنا وأرضانا قال فدعا النبي ﷺ عليهم أربعين صباحا على رعل وذكوان وبني لحيان وعصية الذين عصوا الله ورسوله
