I witnessed Anas bin Malik praying the funeral prayer over a man, and he stood at the level of the man's head. When the body was lifted away, the bier of a woman from Quraysh, or from the Ansar, was brought forward. It was said to him, "Abu Hamza, this is the bier of so-and-so, daughter of so-and-so. Pray over her." So he prayed over her, standing at the middle of her body.Among us was Ala bin Ziyad al-Adawi. When he noticed the difference in where Anas stood for the man and for the woman, he asked, "Abu Hamza, is this how the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to stand for the man, where you stood, and for the woman, where you stood?"He replied, "Yes."Ala then turned to us and said, "Remember this."

شهدت أنس بن مالك صلى على جنازة رجل فقام عند رأسه فلما رفع أتي بجنازة امرأة من قريش أو من الأنصار فقيل له يا أبا حمزة هذه جنازة فلانة ابنة فلان فصل عليها فصلى عليها فقام وسطها وفينا العلاء بن زياد العدوي فلما رأى اختلاف قيامه على الرجل والمرأة قال يا أبا حمزة هكذا كان رسول الله ﷺ يقوم من الرجل حيث قمت ومن المرأة حيث قمت قال نعم قال فالتفت إلينا العلاء فقال احفظوا
