We met Anas bin Malik when he arrived from Sham. We encountered him at Ayn al-Tamr while he was praying on his mount facing a direction other than the qiblah.We said to him, "You are praying toward other than the qiblah."He replied, "Had I not seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ do this, I would not have done it."

تلقينا أنس بن مالك حين قدم من الشام فلقيناه بعين التمر وهو يصلي على دابته لغير القبلة فقلنا له إنك تصلي إلى غير القبلة فقال لولا أني رأيت رسول الله ﷺ يفعل ذلك ما فعلت
