I have never seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ grieve over anything as deeply as he grieved over the companions of Bir Maunah, the men of the expedition led by Mundhir bin Amr. For an entire month he invoked Allah against those who killed them, doing so in the qunut of the morning prayer. He invoked against Ril, Zakwan, Usayyah, and Lihyan, all of whom were from the tribe of Bani Sulaym.

ما رأيت رسول الله ﷺ وجد على شيء قط ما وجد على أصحاب بئر معونة أصحاب سرية المنذر بن عمرو فمكث شهرا يدعو على الذين أصابوهم في قنوت صلاة الغداة يدعو على رعل وذكوان وعصية ولحيان وهم من بني سليم
