A son of Abu Talha by Umm Sulaym died. She said to her family, "Do not tell Abu Talha about his son until I am the one to tell him."When he came home, she brought him his evening meal, and he ate and drank. Then she adorned herself for him more beautifully than she ever had before, and he was intimate with her. When she saw that he was satisfied and had taken his pleasure with her, she said, "Abu Talha, tell me, if some people lent something they owned to a household and then asked for it back, would the household have the right to refuse them?"He said, "No."She said, "Then count your son as a loan returned to Allah."He went off until he came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and told him what had happened. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "May Allah bless the two of you in what remained of your night."She conceived. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was on a journey, and she was with him. Whenever the Messenger of Allah ﷺ returned to Medina from a journey, he would not enter it at night. As they drew near Medina, her labor pains began, and Abu Talha stayed back with her while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ went on.Abu Talha said, "Lord, You know that it pleases me to go out with Your Messenger when he goes out and to enter with him when he enters, and now I am held back as You see."Umm Sulaym said, "Abu Talha, I no longer feel what I was feeling. Let us go on."Her labor pains came upon her again when they arrived, and she gave birth to a boy. My mother said to me, "Anas, no one is to nurse him until you take him in the morning to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."When morning came, I carried him and went off to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I found him with a branding iron in his hand. When he saw me he said, "Perhaps Umm Sulaym has given birth?"I said, "Yes."He set the branding iron down. I brought the child and placed him in his lap. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ called for an ajwa date from the dates of Medina, chewed it in his mouth until it dissolved, then placed it into the baby's mouth. The baby began to smack his lips at it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Look at the Ansar's love for dates."He wiped the child's face and named him Abdullah.
حدثنا بهز حدثنا سليمان بن المغيرة عن ثابت
مات ابن لأبي طلحة من أم سليم فقالت لأهلها لا تحدثوا أبا طلحة بابنه حتى أكون أنا أحدثه قال فجاء فقربت إليه عشاء فأكل وشرب قال ثم تصنعت له أحسن ما كانت تصنع قبل ذلك فوقع بها فلما رأت أنه قد شبع وأصاب منها قالت يا أبا طلحة أرأيت أن قوما أعاروا عاريتهم أهل بيت وطلبوا عاريتهم ألهم أن يمنعوهم قال لا قالت فاحتسب ابنك فانطلق حتى أتى رسول الله ﷺ فأخبره بما كان فقال رسول الله ﷺ بارك الله لكما في غابر ليلتكما قال فحملت قال فكان رسول الله ﷺ في سفر وهي معه وكان رسول الله ﷺ إذا أتى المدينة من سفر لا يطرقها طروقا فدنوا من المدينة فضربها المخاض واحتبس عليها أبو طلحة وانطلق رسول الله ﷺ فقال أبو طلحة يا رب إنك لتعلم أنه يعجبني أن أخرج مع رسولك إذا خرج وأدخل معه إذا دخل وقد احتبست بما ترى قال تقول أم سليم يا أبا طلحة ما أجد الذي كنت أجد فانطلقنا قال وضربها المخاض حين قدموا فولدت غلاما فقالت لي أمي يا أنس لا يرضعنه أحد حتى تغدو به على رسول الله ﷺ قال فلما أصبحت احتملته وانطلقت به إلى رسول الله ﷺ قال فصادفته ومعه ميسم فلما رآني قال لعل أم سليم ولدت قلت نعم قال فوضع الميسم قال فجئت به فوضعته في حجره قال ودعا رسول الله ﷺ بعجوة من عجوة المدينة فلاكها في فيه حتى ذابت ثم قذفها في في الصبي فجعل الصبي يتلمظ فقال رسول الله ﷺ انظروا إلى حب الأنصار التمر قال فمسح وجهه وسماه عبد الله
