Thabit reported,

Anas said, "My uncle," and Hashim said, "Anas bin Nadr, after whom I was named, was not present with the Prophet ﷺ at the battle of Badr." This weighed heavily upon him, and he said, "I was absent from the very first battle in which the Messenger of Allah ﷺ fought. If Allah grants me the chance to be present in a future battle alongside the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, Allah will surely see what I do."He was afraid to say more than that. He was present with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the day of Uhud, where he met Saad bin Muaz.Anas said to him, "Abu Amr, where are you headed?"He replied, "How wonderful is the fragrance of Paradise! I can smell it coming from beyond Uhud."He then fought them until he was killed. More than eighty wounds were found on his body from sword strikes, spear thrusts, and arrows.His sister, my aunt Rabi bint Nadr, said, "I could only recognize my brother by his fingertips."This verse was revealed, "Some men were true to the covenant they made with Allah. Among them is he who has fulfilled his vow, and among them is he who awaits, and they have not changed in the least" [Ahzab 33:23].They used to consider that this verse was revealed about him and his companions.

عن ثابت قال

قال أنس عمي قال هاشم أنس بن النضر سميت به لم يشهد مع النبي ﷺ يوم بدر قال فشق عليه وقال في أول مشهد شهده رسول الله ﷺ غبت عنه لئن أراني الله مشهدا فيما بعد مع رسول الله ﷺ ليرين الله ما أصنع قال فهاب أن يقول غيرها قال فشهد مع رسول الله ﷺ يوم أحد قال فاستقبل سعد بن معاذ قال فقال له أنس يا أبا عمرو أين قال واها لريح الجنة أجده دون أحد قال فقاتلهم حتى قتل فوجد في جسده بضع وثمانون من ضربة وطعنة ورمية قال فقالت أخته عمتي الربيع بنت النضر فما عرفت أخي إلا ببنانه ونزلت هذه الآية {رجال صدقوا ما عاهدوا الله عليه فمنهم من قضى نحبه ومنهم من ينتظر وما بدلوا تبديلا} قال فكانوا يرون أنها نزلت فيه وفي أصحابه
