I brought Abdullah bin Abu Talha to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he was born. I came to the Prophet ﷺ while he was wearing a cloak and applying tar to one of his camels.He said to me, "Do you have any dates with you?"I said, "Yes."He took some dates and put them in his mouth, chewed them, then opened the child's mouth and placed the chewed dates inside. The child began smacking his lips.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The Ansar refuse to love anything but dates."And he named him Abdullah.
حدثنا مؤمل وعفان قالا حدثنا حماد حدثنا ثابت
انطلقت بعبد الله بن أبي طلحة إلى رسول الله ﷺ حين ولد فأتيت النبي ﷺ وهو في عباءة يهنأ بعيرا له فقال لي أمعك تمر قلت نعم فتناول تمرات فألقاهن في فيه فلاكهن في حنكه ففغر الصبي فاه فأوجره فجعل الصبي يتلمظ فقال رسول الله ﷺ أبت الأنصار إلا حب التمر وسماه عبد الله
