The time for prayer arrived, so those who lived near the mosque went to their homes to perform ablution, while a group of the Muhajirun remained in the mosque, between seventy and eighty men. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ called for water, and a stone basin containing water was brought to him. He placed the fingers of his right hand into the basin and began pouring water over them as they performed ablution, saying, "Perform ablution. Come to ablution," until all of them had completed it, and the basin still held nearly as much water as it had at the start.
