A son of Abu Talha fell ill. Abu Talha went out to the mosque, and the boy passed away. Umm Sulaym prepared the body and said to her family, "Let none of you inform Abu Talha of his son's death."Abu Talha returned home accompanied by some of his companions from the mosque. He asked, "How is the boy?"She replied, "He is in a better state than he was."She then brought them their supper and they ate, after which the men left. The woman then attended to herself as a woman does for her husband.Late in the night, she said, "Abu Talha, do you not see how the family of so-and-so borrowed something and enjoyed it, but when it was asked back from them, they seemed to dislike returning it?"He said, "They were not being fair."She said, "Your son was a loan from Allah , and Allah has taken him back."He said the words of return to Allah and praised Allah. When morning came, he went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. When the Prophet saw him, he said, "May Allah bless the two of you in your night."She conceived Abdullah and gave birth to him at night. She did not want anyone else to perform the tahnik until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did so. So I carried the baby in the morning, taking with me some Ajwa dates, and I found him tending to some camels of his, or branding them.I said, "Messenger of Allah, Umm Sulaym gave birth last night, and she did not want anyone to perform the tahnik until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did so."He asked, "Do you have anything with you?"I said, "Some Ajwa dates."He took some of them, chewed them, then gathered his saliva and placed it in the baby's mouth. The infant began to smack his lips, and the Prophet said, "The Ansar's love is dates."I said, "Messenger of Allah, give him a name."He said, "He is Abdullah."
