Anas bin Malik reported,

A son of Abu Talha fell ill. Abu Talha went out to the masjid, and while he was gone the boy died. Umm Sulaym prepared the body and said to her household, "Let none of you tell Abu Talha that his son has died."He came back to his family with some of his companions from the masjid, and he asked, "How is the boy?"She replied, "He is more at rest than he has ever been."She brought them their supper, they ate, and the men left. Then she attended to herself as a woman does for her husband. Late in the night she said, "Abu Talha, have you considered the family of so-and-so? They borrowed something and enjoyed the use of it, but when it was asked back from them they seemed to resent it."He said, "That was not fair of them."She said, "Your son was a loan from Allah تبارك وتعالى, and Allah has taken him back."So he said, "We belong to Allah and to Him we return," and he praised Allah. In the morning he went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and when the Prophet saw him he said, "May Allah bless the two of you in your night."She conceived Abdullah and gave birth to him at night, and she was unwilling to place anything in his mouth until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had done it.The narrator said, "I carried him at daybreak, taking some Ajwa dates with me, and I found the Prophet treating his camels with tar, or branding them. I said, 'Messenger of Allah, Umm Sulaym gave birth last night, and she was unwilling to put anything in the child's mouth until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had done it.'"The Prophet asked, "Do you have anything with you?"He said, "Some Ajwa dates."He took a few of them, chewed them, gathered his saliva, and put it into the child's mouth. The infant began to smack his lips, and the Prophet said, "The Ansar and their love of dates!"He said, "I asked, 'Messenger of Allah, give him a name.'"The Prophet said, "He is Abdullah."The narrator added, "I came to him while he was wearing a striped cloak."
