Ali bin Abu Talib reported,

We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at a funeral when he said, "Who will go to Medina and leave no grave without leveling it, no image without effacing it, and no idol without breaking it?"A man stood up and said, "I will." But then he became apprehensive of the people of Medina and sat down.Ali said, I set out, then returned and said, "Messenger of Allah, I left no grave in Medina without leveling it, no image without effacing it, and no idol without breaking it."He said, "Whoever goes back and does any of that has disbelieved in what was revealed to Muhammad. Ali, never be a sower of discord," or he said, "arrogant, nor a trader except a trader in good, for those people are the ones who keep postponing good deeds."

حدثنا عبد الله حدثني أبو داود المباركي سليمان بن محمد حدثنا أبو شهاب عن شعبة عن الحكم عن أبي المورع

عن علي قال

كنا مع رسول الله ﷺ في جنازة فقال من يأتي المدينة فلا يدع قبرا إلا سواه ولا صورة إلا طلخها ولا وثنا إلا كسره قال فقام رجل فقال أنا ثم هاب أهل المدينة فجلس قال علي رضي الله عنه فانطلقت ثم جئت فقلت يا رسول الله لم أدع بالمدينة قبرا إلا سويته ولا صورة إلا طلختها ولا وثنا إلا كسرته قال فقال من عاد فصنع شيئا من ذلك فقد كفر بما أنزل الله على محمد يا علي لا تكونن فتانا أو قال مختالا ولا تاجرا إلا تاجر الخير فإن أولئك هم المسوفون في العمل
