The Prophet ﷺ used to go out on the day of the festival at the breaking of the fast and lead the people in those two prayer cycles. Then he would step forward and face the people while they remained seated, and he would say, "Give in charity, give in charity, give in charity," three times. The narrator said that most of those who gave in charity were the women, who gave earrings, rings, and whatever else they had. If he had need to send out an expedition, he would mention it, and if he had no such need, he would leave. He said, and if he intended to levy an expedition upon the people, he would mention it, and if not, he would leave.
