Ali bin Abu Talib reported,

On the pulpit, he mentioned the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed away, and Abu Bakr was appointed as his successor. He followed his practice and walked his path until Allah took him in that state. Then Umar was appointed as successor on the same basis, and he followed the practice of both of them and walked their path until Allah took him in that state."

حدثنا عبد الله حدثني سريج بن يونس حدثنا مروان الفزاري أخبرنا عبد الملك بن سلع عن عبد خير قال سمعت

ه يقول قام علي رضي الله عنه

على المنبر فذكر رسول الله ﷺ فقال قبض رسول الله ﷺ واستخلف أبو بكر رضي الله عنه فعمل بعمله وسار بسيرته حتى قبضه الله عز وجل على ذلك ثم استخلف عمر رضي الله عنه على ذلك فعمل بعملهما وسار بسيرتهما حتى قبضه الله عز وجل على ذلك
