The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered me to sell two slave brothers. I sold them and separated them in the process. I mentioned this to the Prophet ﷺ, and he said, "Go after them and take them back. Do not sell them except together, and do not separate them."
حدثنا عبد الوهاب عن سعيد عن رجل عن الحكم بن عتيبة عن عبد الرحمن بن أبي ليلى
أمرني رسول الله ﷺ أن أبيع غلامين أخوين فبعتهما ففرقت بينهما فذكرت ذلك للنبي ﷺ فقال أدركهما فارتجعهما ولا تبعهما إلا جميعا ولا تفرق بينهما
Its chain is daif, due to the anonymity of the man from whom Saeed bin Abu Aruba narrated. This hadith has already passed as no. 710 via Saeed bin Abu Aruba from Hakam, without an intermediary, and we graded it sahih there, but this narration has revealed its defect, namely that it is disconnected.In the book Al-Marasil by Ibn Abu Hatim (29), Abdullah bin Ahmad bin Hanbal informed us, in what he wrote to me, my father told me, he said, "Saeed bin Abu Aruba never heard anything from Hakam bin Utayba."This should therefore be corrected with regard to what we said there, now that the daif nature of the chain has become clear. This hadith has already passed with another chain, no. 800, via Hakam from Maymun bin Shabib from Ali. In (ح) it reads "Hakam bin Utba," which is an error we corrected based on (ك) and (ه).
