His father reported that he heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, as he was leaving the mosque and the men had become mixed with the women in the road, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to the women, "Hold back, for it is not for you to walk in the middle of the road. Keep to the edges of the road."After that, a woman would press herself so close to the wall that her garment would catch on it from how tightly she clung to it.
حدثنا عبد الله بن مسلمة حدثنا عبد العزيز يعني ابن محمد عن أبي اليمان عن شداد بن أبي عمرو بن حماس عن أبيه
عن أبيه أنه سمع رسول الله ﷺ يقول وهو خارج من المسجد فاختلط الرجال مع النساء في الطريق فقال رسول الله ﷺ للنساء استأخرن فإنه ليس لكن أن تحققن الطريق عليكن بحافات الطريق فكانت المرأة تلتصق بالجدار حتى إن ثوبها ليتعلق بالجدار من لصوقها به

[Its chain is daif] Bukhari narrated it in Tarikh al-Kabir, 9/55, from Abdullah bin Maslama, with similar wording. Shaddad is unknown, and his father is obscure. It has a daif corroborating narration in Ibn Hibban, hadith no. 1969, via Qanabi, with similar wording.
