Uthman bin Affan reported,

I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Whoever says, 'In the name of Allah, with whose name nothing in the earth or in the heaven can cause harm, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing,' three times, no sudden calamity will befall him until the morning. And whoever says it three times in the morning, no sudden calamity will befall him until the evening."The narrator said, Abban bin Uthman was then struck with paralysis, and the man who had heard the hadith from him began staring at him.Abban said to him, "Why are you looking at me? By Allah, I did not lie against Uthman, nor did Uthman lie against the Prophet ﷺ. But on the day this affliction struck me, I was angry and forgot to say it."

حدثنا عبد الله بن مسلمة حدثنا أبو مودود عمن سمع أبان بن عثمان يقول سمعت

عثمان يعني ابن عفان يقول

سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول من قال بسم الله الذي لا يضر مع اسمه شيء في الأرض ولا في السماء وهو السميع العليم ثلاث مرات لم تصبه فجأة بلاء حتى يصبح ومن قالها حين يصبح ثلاث مرات لم تصبه فجأة بلاء حتى يمسي و قال فأصاب أبان بن عثمان الفالج فجعل الرجل الذي سمع منه الحديث ينظر إليه فقال له ما لك تنظر إلي فوالله ما كذبت على عثمان ولا كذب عثمان على النبي ﷺ ولكن اليوم الذي أصابني فيه ما أصابني غضبت فنسيت أن أقولها
