Aishah said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ married me when I was a girl of seven, or six. When we came to Madinah, some women came to me." Bishr's version reads, "Umm Ruman came to me while I was on a swing. They took me away, prepared me, and made me ready. Then I was brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he consummated the marriage with me when I was nine. She halted me at the door, and I said, 'Hih, hih.'"Abu Dawud explained that this meant she was panting for breath."Then I was brought into a room, and there were women of the Ansar in it. They said, 'For good fortune and blessing.'"The wording of the two narrations has become intermingled here. One of them says she said, "Upon a good omen.""So she handed me over to them, and they washed my head and made me presentable. Nothing startled me until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ appeared in the forenoon, and they handed me over to him."
