I never heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ permit lying except in three situations. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say, "I do not consider him a liar, the man who reconciles between people, saying something by which he intends only to bring about peace, the man who speaks during war, and the man who tells something to his wife, or the wife who tells something to her husband."

ما سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يرخص في شيء من الكذب إلا في ثلاث كان رسول الله ﷺ يقول لا أعده كاذبا الرجل يصلح بين الناس يقول القول ولا يريد به إلا الإصلاح والرجل يقول في الحرب والرجل يحدث امرأته والمرأة تحدث زوجها
