Ali said, "When I narrate to you a hadith from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, I would rather fall from the sky than lie about him. But when I speak to you about matters between ourselves, then war is deception. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'There will come at the end of time a people young in age, foolish in mind. They will speak the words of the best of creation, yet they will pass through Islam as an arrow passes through its prey. Their faith will not go beyond their throats. Wherever you meet them, kill them, for killing them will be a reward on the Day of Resurrection for whoever kills them.'"
حدثنا محمد بن كثير أخبرنا سفيان حدثنا الأعمش عن خيثمة عن سويد بن غفلة قال قال
عن رسول الله ﷺ حديثا فلأن أخر من السماء أحب إلي من أن أكذب عليه وإذا حدثتكم فيما بيني وبينكم فإنما الحرب خدعة سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول يأتي في آخر الزمان قوم حدثاء الأسنان سفهاء الأحلام يقولون من قول خير البرية يمرقون من الإسلام كما يمرق السهم من الرمية لا يجاوز إيمانهم حناجرهم فأينما لقيتموهم فاقتلوهم فإن قتلهم أجر لمن قتلهم يوم القيامة
Citation. Bukhari narrated it in the chapters on virtues, in the chapter on the signs of prophethood in Islam, hadith no. 3611, from Muhammad bin Kathir. Muslim narrated it in the chapters on zakat, in the chapter on urging the killing of the Kharijites, hadith no. 1066, from the hadith of Sufyan, with the same wording.
