I never saw the Prophet ﷺ presented with a case involving retaliation without him commanding that the offender be pardoned.
حدثنا موسى بن إسمعيل حدثنا عبد الله بن بكر بن عبد الله المزني عن عطاء بن أبي ميمونة
ما رأيت النبي ﷺ رفع إليه شيء فيه قصاص إلا أمر فيه بالعفو
[Its isnad is sahih] Ibn Majah reported it in the chapter on Blood Money, in the section on pardon in cases of retaliation, hadith no. 2692, and Nasai, hadith no. 4787, from the hadith of Abdullah bin Bakr, with this wording.
