It is as if I can see the Messenger of Allah ﷺ right now, moving among the travel-saddles searching for the saddle of Khalid bin Walid. While he was doing that, a man was brought to him who had drunk wine. He said to the people, "Strike him."Some struck him with sandals, some with sticks, and some with a maytakha. Ibn Wahb said, this means a fresh palm branch. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ took some dirt from the ground and threw it in the man's face.
حدثنا سليمان بن داود المهري المصري ابن أخي رشدين بن سعد أخبرنا ابن وهب أخبرني أسامة بن زيد أن ابن شهاب حدثه
كأني أنظر إلى رسول الله ﷺ الآن وهو في الرحال يلتمس رحل خالد بن الوليد فبينما هو كذلك إذ أتي برجل قد شرب الخمر فقال للناس اضربوه فمنهم من ضربه بالنعال ومنهم من ضربه بالعصا ومنهم من ضربه بالميتخة قال ابن وهب الجريدة الرطبة ثم أخذ رسول الله ﷺ ترابا من الأرض فرمى به في وجهه

Its isnad is hasan. Ahmad: 4/88, and Nasai in Kubra, no. 5281, narrated it from the hadith of Usama bin Zayd, and Hakim graded it sahih: 4/374, 375, and Dhahabi agreed with him. Zuhri stated explicitly that he heard it directly.
