A woman borrowed some jewelry, using the names of well-known people as references, though she herself was unknown. She then sold the jewelry. She was seized and brought to the Prophet ﷺ, who ordered that her hand be cut off. She is the one for whom Usama bin Zayd interceded, and concerning whom the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said what he said.

استعارت امرأة تعني حليا على ألسنة أناس يعرفون ولا تعرف هي فباعته فأخذت فأتي بها النبي ﷺ فأمر بقطع يدها وهي التي شفع فيها أسامة بن زيد وقال فيها رسول الله ﷺ ما قال
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Testimonies, chapter on the testimony of the slanderer, the thief, and the fornicator, hadith no. 2648, from the hadith of Layth bin Saad. Muslim narrated it in the Book of Punishments, chapter on cutting off the hand of the noble thief and others, hadith no. 1688, from the hadith of Yunus bin Yazid, with the same chain.
