I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, and he then mentioned part of the hadith of Abu Bakra. He said, "Both the killer and the killed will be in the Fire."In it he said, I asked, "When will that be, Ibn Masud?"He replied, "Those will be the days of widespread killing, when a man will not feel safe even from the one sitting beside him."I asked, "What do you command me to do if I live to see that time?"He said, "Restrain your tongue and your hand, and be like a worn-out blanket in your house."When Uthman was killed, my heart took flight. I rode out until I reached Damascus, where I met Khuraym bin Fatik. I related the hadith to him, and he swore by Allah, beside whom there is no god, that he had heard it from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ just as Ibn Masud had narrated it to me.

سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول فذكر بعض حديث أبي بكرة قال قتلاها كلهم في النار قال فيه قلت متى ذلك يا ابن مسعود قال تلك أيام الهرج حيث لا يأمن الرجل جليسه قلت فما تأمرني إن أدركني ذلك الزمان قال تكف لسانك ويدك وتكون حلسا من أحلاس بيتك فلما قتل عثمان طار قلبي مطاره فركبت حتى أتيت دمشق فلقيت خريم بن فاتك فحدثته فحلف بالله الذي لا إله إلا هو لسمعه من رسول الله ﷺ كما حدثنيه ابن مسعود

Its isnad is daif. Ahmad reported it, 449/1, no. 4287, from the hadith of Mamar, from Ishaq bin Rashid, from Salim, from Amr bin Wabisah, in this manner. Salim here is unascribed, and Mizzi and Asqalani in Taqrib, and others besides them, were uncertain about identifying him. Asqalani, in Tahdhib al-Tahdhib, supposed that he was Salim bin Ajlan, but did not mention any evidence for this. This Salim is of unknown status, though some of his hadith have supporting reports in Hakim, 427/4, and elsewhere.
