The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent me to Yemen as a judge, so I said, "Messenger of Allah, you are sending me when I am young in age and have no knowledge of judging."He replied, "Allah will guide your heart and keep your tongue firm. When the two disputants sit before you, do not pass judgment until you have heard from the second just as you heard from the first, for that is more likely to make the correct judgment clear to you."He said, "I continued as a judge," or he said, "I never had doubt about a judgment after that."
حدثنا عمرو بن عون قال أخبرنا شريك عن سماك عن حنش
بعثني رسول الله ﷺ إلى اليمن قاضيا فقلت يا رسول الله ترسلني وأنا حديث السن ولا علم لي بالقضاء فقال إن الله سيهدي قلبك ويثبت لسانك فإذا جلس بين يديك الخصمان فلا تقضين حتى تسمع من الآخر كما سمعت من الأول فإنه أحرى أن يتبين لك القضاء قال فما زلت قاضيا أو ما شككت في قضاء بعد
Its chain is daif. Tirmidhi narrated it in the Book of Rulings, chapter on what has been said about the judge not passing judgment between two litigants until he hears from both, no. 1331, from the hadith of Simak, and he said, "Hasan," but its chain is daif. The hadith has thematic corroborations in Ibn Majah, no. 2310, and elsewhere. Sharik reported it with anaa, and Hanash was declared daif by the majority.
