The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "People, whoever among you is appointed by us to a task and then conceals from us even a needle or anything more than that, it will be a misappropriation that he will bring with him on the Day of Resurrection."A black man from the Ansar stood up, and it is as though I can still see him. He said, "Messenger of Allah, take back your appointment from me."The Prophet ﷺ asked, "What is the matter?"He replied, "I heard you say such and such."The Prophet ﷺ said, "I say it again. Whoever we appoint to a task must bring everything, little or much. Whatever he is given from it, he may take, and whatever he is forbidden, he must abstain from."
حدثنا مسدد حدثنا يحيى عن إسمعيل بن أبي خالد حدثني قيس قال
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال يا أيها الناس من عمل منكم لنا على عمل فكتمنا منه مخيطا فما فوقه فهو غل يأتي به يوم القيامة فقام رجل من الأنصار أسود كأني أنظر إليه فقال يا رسول الله اقبل عني عملك قال وما ذاك قال سمعتك تقول كذا وكذا قال وأنا أقول ذلك من استعملناه على عمل فليأت بقليله وكثيره فما أوتي منه أخذه وما نهي عنه انتهى
