The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave a ruling concerning a woman of the Ansar whose son had given her a garden of palm trees. When she died, her son said, "I only gave it to her for her lifetime," and he had brothers as well.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "It is hers, both during her life and after her death."The son said, "I had given it to her as charity."He replied, "That puts it even further beyond your reach."

قضى رسول الله ﷺ في امرأة من الأنصار أعطاها ابنها حديقة من نخل فماتت فقال ابنها إنما أعطيتها حياتها وله إخوة فقال رسول الله ﷺ هي لها حياتها وموتها قال كنت تصدقت بها عليها قال ذلك أبعد لك

[Its isnad is daif] Bayhaqi narrated it, 6/174, from the hadith of Uthman bin Abu Shayba, through this route. Sufyan Thawri and Habib bin Abu Thabit both narrated with "an" without specifying direct hearing.
