The Prophet ﷺ said, "Do not give a lifetime gift (ruqba), and do not give a gift for the duration of someone's life (umra). Whoever gives something as ruqba or umra, it belongs to the recipient's heirs."

أن النبي ﷺ قال لا ترقبوا ولا تعمروا فمن أرقب شيئا أو أعمره فهو لورثته
[Sahih] Narrated by Nasai in "Umra," the chapter mentioning the differences in the wording of those who transmitted Jabir's report, at 3762, from the hadith of Sufyan bin Uyayna with similar wording, and by Muslim, hadith 31/1625, from the hadith of Ataa with similar wording.
