A man bought a slave and kept him for as long as Allah willed, then he discovered a defect in him. He brought the matter before the Prophet ﷺ, who ordered the sale to be reversed.The seller said, "Messenger of Allah, he has made use of my slave's labor."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "The benefit goes to the one who bears the liability."

أن رجلا ابتاع غلاما فأقام عنده ما شاء الله أن يقيم ثم وجد به عيبا فخاصمه إلى النبي ﷺ فرده عليه فقال الرجل يا رسول الله قد استغل غلامي فقال رسول الله ﷺ الخراج بالضمان
Its isnad is daif. Ibn Majah narrated it in Kitab al-Tijarat, chapter on liability entailing profit, no. 2243, from the hadith of Muslim bin Khalid, and he is daif. Khalid bin Mihran corroborated him, restricting himself to the marfu portion only (Tarikh Baghdad 8/297, 298), but the chain to him is also daif. Ibn Hibban graded it sahih, no. 1126, as did Ibn Jarud, no. 626, and Hakim, 2/15, with Dhahabi concurring, while Tirmidhi criticized it, no. 1286. The preceding hadith, no. 3508, makes this one unnecessary.
