The Prophet ﷺ forbade the sale of fruit until its ripeness becomes apparent, and he forbade selling it except for Dinars or Dirhams, with the exception of araya sales.
حدثنا إسحق بن إسمعيل الطالقاني حدثنا سفيان عن ابن جريج عن عطاء
أن النبي ﷺ نهى عن بيع الثمر حتى يبدو صلاحه ولا يباع إلا بالدينار أو بالدرهم إلا العرايا
Bukhari, Al-Musaqat, chapter "A Man Who Has a Right of Passage or a Water Share in a Garden or Palm Grove," no. 2381, and Muslim, Al-Buyu, chapter "Prohibition of Muhaqalah, Muzabanah, and Mukhabarah, etc.," no. 81/1536, after 1543, from the hadith of Sufyan, through him.
