The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The delay in repayment by a wealthy person is an injustice, and when one of you is referred for payment to a solvent person, he should accept the referral."
حدثنا عبد الله بن مسلمة القعنبي عن مالك عن أبي الزناد عن الأعرج
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال مطل الغني ظلم وإذا أتبع أحدكم على مليء فليتبع
Bukhari narrated it in Hawalat (Book of Transfers of Debt), Chapter "The transfer of debt and whether one may revert in it," hadith no. 2287, and Muslim in Musaqat, Chapter "The prohibition of delaying payment by a wealthy debtor and the validity of transferring debt... etc.," hadith no. 1564, from the hadith of Malik through this same chain. It is also found in Muwatta (Yahya's recension), 2/674.
