The Messenger of Allah ﷺ borrowed a young camel, then camels from the charity collection came to him, so he ordered me to repay the man his young camel.I said, "I could not find among the camels anything but a fine, mature camel in its seventh year."The Prophet ﷺ said, "Give it to him, for the best of people are those who are best in repaying their debts."
حدثنا القعنبي عن مالك عن زيد بن أسلم عن عطاء بن يسار
استسلف رسول الله ﷺ بكرا فجاءته إبل من الصدقة فأمرني أن أقضي الرجل بكره فقلت لم أجد في الإبل إلا جملا خيارا رباعيا فقال النبي ﷺ أعطه إياه فإن خيار الناس أحسنهم قضاء
Muslim narrated it in the chapter on musaqah, the section on one who borrows something and repays with something better, hadith no. 1600, from the hadith of Malik through this same chain, and it is found in Muwatta (Yahya): 2/680.
