I went out with my father on the pilgrimage of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and I heard the people saying, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ," so I kept fixing my eyes on him. My father drew near to him while he was on a she-camel of his, carrying a whip like a schoolmaster's whip, and I heard the bedouins and the people saying, "The whip, the whip!" My father came close to him and took hold of his foot. She said, He let him do so and stopped, and listened to him.My father said, "Messenger of Allah, I made a vow that if a male child were born to me, I would sacrifice a number of sheep at the top of Buwana, in a pass among the mountain passes." I know only that she said, "Fifty."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "Is there anything of the idols there?"He replied, "No."He said, "Then fulfill what you vowed to Allah."She said, So he gathered them together and began slaughtering them, but one sheep escaped from among them, and he chased after it saying, "Allah, let me fulfill my vow," until he caught it and slaughtered it.He asked, "Is there an idol there, or a festival from the festivals of the age of ignorance?"He replied, "No."I said, "This mother of mine has a vow upon her, and a vow to walk. Shall I fulfill it on her behalf?" And sometimes Ibn Bashshar said, "Shall we fulfill it on her behalf?"He said, "Yes."
