When Uthman bin Mazun died, his body was carried out and buried. The Prophet ﷺ ordered a man to bring him a stone, but the man was unable to lift it. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ himself rose and walked over to it, rolling up his sleeves from his forearms.Kathir said that Muttalib said that the one who related this to him from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "It is as if I can still see the whiteness of the forearms of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he uncovered them."He then carried the stone and placed it at the head of the grave, saying, "I am marking my brother's grave with it, so that I may bury beside him whoever dies from my family."
حدثنا عبد الوهاب بن نجدة حدثنا سعيد بن سالم ح و حدثنا يحيى بن الفضل السجستاني حدثنا حاتم يعني ابن إسمعيل بمعناه عن كثير بن زيد المدني
لما مات عثمان بن مظعون أخرج بجنازته فدفن فأمر النبي ﷺ رجلا أن يأتيه بحجر فلم يستطع حمله فقام إليها رسول الله ﷺ وحسر عن ذراعيه قال كثير قال المطلب قال الذي يخبرني ذلك عن رسول الله ﷺ قال كأني أنظر إلى بياض ذراعي رسول الله ﷺ حين حسر عنهما ثم حملها فوضعها عند رأسه وقال أتعلم بها قبر أخي وأدفن إليه من مات من أهلي
