On the year of the Conquest, Abbas bin Abdul-Muttalib brought Abu Sufyan bin Harb to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he embraced Islam at Marr az-Zahran.Abbas said, "Messenger of Allah, Abu Sufyan is a man who loves honor, so grant him something."The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Yes. Whoever enters the house of Abu Sufyan is safe, and whoever shuts his door upon himself is safe."

أن رسول الله ﷺ عام الفتح جاءه العباس بن عبد المطلب بأبي سفيان بن حرب فأسلم بمر الظهران فقال له العباس يا رسول الله إن أبا سفيان رجل يحب هذا الفخر فلو جعلت له شيئا قال نعم من دخل دار أبي سفيان فهو آمن ومن أغلق عليه بابه فهو آمن
Sourcing, sahih. Ibn Abu Shayba narrated it in Al-Musannaf (14/496) from Yahya bin Adam through him. Ibn Ishaq explicitly stated that he had heard it directly, as recorded by Tabarani in Al-Kabir (8/10-15, no. 7264). The hadith also has a corroborating narration in Muslim's Sahih (no. 1780).
