The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "For a person to give a single dirham in charity during his lifetime is better for him than giving a hundred dirhams in charity at the time of his death."

Its isnad is daif. Ibn Abdul-Barr transmitted it in Tamhid 4/304 through the hadith of Abu Dawud, and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih, no. 821. Shurahbil bin Saad was declared daif by the majority of scholars, and he also became confused in his later years.
