Umm Habiba bint Jahsh, the sister-in-law of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the wife of Abdul-Rahman bin Awf, suffered from prolonged bleeding for seven years. She sought the Messenger of Allah's ﷺ guidance about it, and he said, "This is not menstrual blood but blood from a vein. So perform the ritual bath and pray."
حدثنا ابن أبي عقيل ومحمد بن سلمة المصريان قالا حدثنا ابن وهب عن عمرو بن الحارث عن ابن شهاب عن عروة بن الزبير وعمرة
أن أم حبيبة بنت جحش ختنة رسول الله ﷺ وتحت عبد الرحمن بن عوف استحيضت سبع سنين فاستفتت رسول الله ﷺ فقال رسول الله ﷺ إن هذه ليست بالحيضة ولكن هذا عرق فاغتسلي وصلي
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Menstruation, chapter on the woman with prolonged bleeding, her washing and her prayer, hadith no. 64/334, from the hadith of Abdullah bin Wahb. Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Menstruation, chapter on the blood flow of prolonged bleeding, hadith no. 327, from the hadith of Ibn Shihab Zuhri, with the same content, and the direct hearing was stated explicitly in the version of Nasai, hadith no. 204.
