She used to experience prolonged bleeding, so the Prophet ﷺ said to her, "When it is menstrual blood, it is black and recognizable. When that is the case, refrain from prayer. When it is the other kind, perform ablution and pray, for it is merely from a vein."
حدثنا محمد بن المثنى حدثنا محمد بن أبي عدي عن محمد يعني ابن عمرو قال حدثني ابن شهاب عن عروة بن الزبير
أنها كانت تستحاض فقال لها النبي ﷺ إذا كان دم الحيضة فإنه أسود يعرف فإذا كان ذلك فأمسكي عن الصلاة فإذا كان الآخر فتوضئي وصلي فإنما هو عرق
Its chain is daif. Nasai narrated it in the Book of Purification, chapter on the difference between the blood of menstruation and the blood of prolonged bleeding, hadith no. 216, from Muhammad bin Muthanna with the same wording. Ibn Hibban graded it sahih (al-Ihsan) 1345, and Hakim did so as well, according to the standard of Muslim, 1/174, and Dhahabi agreed with him. The hadith has corroborating narrations, see hadith no. 281. Zuhri narrated it using the ambiguous form "an" (without specifying direct hearing).
