Najdah al-Haruri wrote to Ibn Abbas asking him whether women used to be present at battles with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and whether he would assign them a share of the spoils.The narrator said, I myself wrote out Ibn Abbas's reply to Najdah, which read, "Women did indeed attend battles with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. As for assigning them a fixed share of the spoils, no, but he would grant them a small portion."
