A slave of Imran ran away, so Imran vowed to Allah that if he got hold of him, he would cut off his hand. He sent me to ask about this on his behalf.I went to Samura bin Jundab and asked him. He said, "The Prophet of Allah ﷺ used to urge us to give charity and forbid us from mutilation."Then I went to Imran bin Husayn and asked him. He said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to urge us to give charity and forbid us from mutilation."
[Its chain of transmission is daif] Ahmad narrated it in 4/428 from the hadith of Qatada, with this wording. Qatada transmitted it using an ambiguous form of transmission (anan), but another hadith compensates for it, Ahmad 5/20, which suffices in its place.
