Utba bin Rabia stepped forward, followed by his son and his brother, and he called out, "Who will come out to duel?"Some young men from the Ansar responded to his challenge. He asked, "Who are you?"They told him.He said, "We have no business with you. We only want our cousins."So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Stand up, Hamza. Stand up, Ali. Stand up, Ubayda bin Harith."Hamza advanced toward Utba, I advanced toward Shayb, and Ubayda and Walid exchanged two blows, each wounding the other severely. Then we turned together against Walid and killed him, and we carried Ubayda away.
[Its chain is daif] Ahmad transmitted it, 1/117, from the hadith of Israil through this route, and its chain is daif. Hakim graded it sahih according to the standard of the two Shaykhs, 3/194, but Dhahabi criticized this judgment. The hadith has corroborating narrations in Sira by Ibn Hisham, 22/277, and in Dalail by Bayhaqi, 131/9. Abu Ishaq used the ambiguous form "an" in his transmission, and the hadith has daif corroborating narrations.
