The Prophet ﷺ said, "A woman whose husband has died must not wear garments dyed with safflower or red ochre, nor put on jewelry, nor apply henna, nor wear kohl."
حدثنا زهير بن حرب حدثنا يحيى بن أبي بكير حدثنا إبراهيم بن طهمان حدثني بديل عن الحسن بن مسلم عن صفية بنت شيبة
عن النبي ﷺ أنه قال المتوفى عنها زوجها لا تلبس المعصفر من الثياب ولا الممشقة ولا الحلي ولا تختضب ولا تكتحل
[Its chain is hasan] Nasai narrated it, in the Book of Divorce, the chapter on what a woman in mourning must avoid regarding dyed garments, hadith no. 3565, from the hadith of Yahya bin Abu Bukayr, with this same chain. Ibn Hibban graded it sahih in Mawarid, no. 1328, and Ibn Mulaqqin graded it hasan in Tuhfat al-Muhtaj, no. 1504.
