The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was occupied one night and delayed the prayer until we had fallen asleep in the mosque, then woke up, then slept again, then woke up, then slept once more. Then he came out to us and said, "No one is waiting for the prayer except you."
حدثنا أحمد بن محمد بن حنبل حدثنا عبد الرزاق حدثنا ابن جريج أخبرني نافع
أن رسول الله ﷺ شغل عنها ليلة فأخرها حتى رقدنا في المسجد ثم استيقظنا ثم رقدنا ثم استيقظنا ثم رقدنا ثم خرج علينا فقال ليس أحد ينتظر الصلاة غيركم
Bukhari narrated it in Mawaqit, chapter on sleeping before Isha for one who is overcome by sleep, hadith no. 570, and Muslim narrated it in Masajid, chapter on the time of Isha and delaying it, hadith no. 639, from the hadith of Abdul-Razzaq, through him. It is also in his Musannaf, hadith no. 2115, and through him Ahmad narrated it in his Musnad, 2/88.
